When you're not organizing BRS events.. you're probably...: Taking my doggies to the beach, doing a Tuesday NYT crossword with my partner, sewing purses that lack structural integrity, or running slowly around town
As a young unathletic child, my mom always insisted I would become a runner as an adult. I rejected this theory in part due to my dislike of exercise generally, but mostly due to my hatred of running. In high school I joined the swim team and came to enjoy exercise - just not running. It wasn't until I was in college on the rowing team when they sent us out for a 6 mile run that I even discovered I could endure farther than a mile (it's crazy what a slow pace can accomplish), and though I still hated it, I saw the beauty in being able to put on a pair of running shoes and go. Now almost 10 years later it is my favorite and most consistent form of movement, and I can't imagine my life without it. Alas, my mom was right again.
